Duke Energy Reports Oil Spill In Ohio River

CINCINNATI, Ohio — Duke energy reports that in a routine transfer of fuel at the W.C. Beckjord station, 5,000 gallons of oil was dumped into the Ohio River just after 11 p.m. Monday.

Duke Energy President of Midwest Commercial Chuck Whitlock said that state and local authorities were notified and have been working throughout the night. 

Whitclock also said, “We have cleanup crews on site that are identifying the appropriate actions that will be needed to remediate.”

The Beckjord station is located 20 miles east of Cincinnati in Claremount County.
