Warm & Wet Workweek Ahead

A series of Gulf-born rainmaking systems sweep into the Carolinas this week, leaving us with an extended taste of spring as we close out February.

As we enter February’s closing stretch, it’s going to feel a lot like spring. A series of Gulf-born rainmaking systems encroach upon the Carolinas this week, leading us to end up above average in terms of rainfall and temperatures. Expect mostly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 60s around the Metro for your Presidents’ Day. We’ll be closer to 50º in the High Country for our holiday. Enjoy the day! Rain chances largely stay at bay until Tuesday morning, when a few showers could find their way into the Carolinas.

Tuesday morning’s showers could end up being an appetizer for what’s to come, as more rain arrives for the second half of the week. Exact forecast totals remain unclear, but most locations should see at least a half-inch of rain through the end of February. For now, it appears our greatest rain chances arrive Wednesday afternoon and Thursday overnight into Friday.
