SALISBURY, NC — Police and family are still searching for the pregnant mother who vanished from her Salisbury home Tuesday.Β
Carry Bradshaw-Crowther disappeared the day of her scheduled C-section. The 49-year-old’s baby girl is due in two weeks. A high-risk pregnancy coupled with a connective tissue disorder means a natural child birth could be deadly.
Β
“I love her, and we need her, and we want her home,” said Lauren Lusk.Β
Β
Three days ago, Lusk left the Salisbury home to get gas before taking the mother in for the C-section. When she returned, she says her mother was gone and so was her mother’s van.
Β
“All those thoughts went through my head: that she wrecked, somebody broke into the house, somebody took her,” said Luck.
Β
She immediately called the hospital. Doctors said she never showed up. Police sent out alerts.Β
Β
Investigators traced her steps starting at 5:20 that Tuesday morning. Someone made a phone call from Bradshaw-Crowther’s cell phone in a wooded area blocks from her home on West Colonial Drive.
Β
Then, Lusk says someone turned off the phone.
Β
The next lead: family says Bradshaw-Crowther used her credit card at a Shell gas station in Statesville.Β
Β
Police gathered surveillance footage to confirm she was there.Β
Β
Across the street from the gas station, Brookewood Inn workers says she stayed there Tuesday night when she went missing.
Β
The clerk tells WCCB Charlotte that the mother-to-be checked out a room alone. He says she seemed happy when she left before 1:00 the next day.
Β
“I love her, and I don’t understand any of this. It doesn’t make sense,” said Lusk. “I just want to hold her again, to know I need to touch her again.”
Β
Police says she was driving a 2001 Mazda MPV van, champagne in color. The vehicle has an unknown expired Kansas tag. Β
Β
Family says it’s possible she’s heading to Linville Gorge.
