
UPDATE: CMPD says they have charged Joshua Lamar Brownlee, 24, with the murders of Matthew Daniel Brown and Mykeijaa Shanquial on Atmore Street in Northeast Charlotte.
Detectives say that information gathered led them to Brownlee, and he was arrested without incident.
Detectives have also identified and interviewed the second person of interest, and want to thank the public for their assistance. Detectives do believe there are more suspects involved in the murders and are continuing to investigate the case.
UPDATE: Police say they have identified first person of interest, but are now seeking information on a second. He is a black male, approximately 6’2″ and 250lbs. He was wearing a hat with “Raptors” displayed on the front.

CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD Detectives are investigating a double murder this morning after a man and woman were found shot on the 4100 block of Atmore St, and are now seeking a person of interest.
Police are asking for the public’s assistance in finding a person of interest captured on a nearby street camera. He is described as a dark skinned black male, around 6 feet tall, and 185 lbs. He was last seen wearing a red shirt and white shorts.
A call came in around midnight for an assault with a deadly weapon on Atmore St., and when CMPD officers arrived they found a man and woman with gunshot wounds. Medics pronounced the two dead on the scene.
The names of the victims have not yet been released.
