CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The United States saw a record-setting amount of rain last month with an average of 4.36 inches. This makes May the wettest month in the 121 years that records have been kept on rainfall.

Colorado, Oklahoma, and Texas also set record totals for rainfall in May. Flooding in Oklahoma and Texas killed dozens, where precipitation was almost double the average and the most in any month ever.
