Solution On The Horizon For South End Residents Dealing With Noisy Exhaust Pipe
CHARLOTTE, NC. — An annoying humming and buzzing noise is coming from an exhaust pipe on the side of the hawk apartment building. It’s what Courtney Benjamin, Daniel Kleinheinz, and other neighbors of this townhome community on Doggett Street have been dealing with for months. Until last week. Now it’s quieter with the help of WCCB.
“I do view it as a good neighborly move. I’m excited that there’s some sort of possible progress made here. I just hope it continues,” Benjamin says
After months of headaches and no sleep, WCCB started investigating the issue and got several city council members involved. Those council members reached out to the apartment complex, and action was taken. Benjamin says Hawk Apartments had a crew come out last Friday and extend the pipe a few yards taller; it’s now above the parking garage. They’ve noticed a slight decrease in the noise, but it’s still annoying. The apartment general manager says they’re are requesting quotes to see if anything else can be done.
“Their response at this point is that they’re looking into other options. They have not disclosed that they are going to continue working on it or what they planned to do.”
