Fire Investigation After Furniture Shop Blaze

CROUSE, NC — A fire investigation is underway in Crouse after flames tore through a furniture shop. It happened here at Elmore’s Finishing and Refinishing on Pleasant Grove Church Road around 2:45pm.

We’re told there was staff inside when the fire started, but they got out safely. Megan Bumgarner was in her house when she says she heard what sounded like gunfire. She drove over to the shop and saw lots of flames.

“Yes, just rolling out of the side and out of the roof,” said Bumgarner. “Black smoke, pitch black smoke. I thought it was gonna be bigger than what it was, I thought maybe a house and trees caught fire, but it was just the building. I was shocked!”

No one was hurt in the fire. There’s still no word on what sparked that blaze.
