Ryan Hoefeld will get the start at center and Derrick Kelly will opent at right tackle. Hoefeld started four games last season but didn’t play in the first three games this year due to injuries.
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) β North Carolina linebacker Joe Jackson has decided to stop playing football because of a neck injury. The junior from Jacksonville, Florida, was injured in the opener against South Carolina. In a statement from the school Thursday, Jackson said he had consulted with his family and doctors.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) β Josef Newgarden will return to CFH Racing next season after winning two IndyCar races this year. Newgarden has raced for Sarah Fisher since 2012, and the team last year merged with Ed Carpenter Racing.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) β Karen Garcia rallied to win the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur yesterday at Hillwood Country Club, taking the final two holes for a 1-up victory over Pamela Kuong. The 53-year-old Garcia, from Cool, California, rebounded after losing Nos. 14-16 to fall a hole down.
