
SALISBURY, N.C. — Two Catawba College students were arrested for having drugs in their dorm room.
Police say it all started after they responded to a breaking and entering call. Based on evidence from the suspects vehicle, Jordan Chillson was arrested and charged with two counts of breaking and entering into a motor vehicle with the intent to commit larceny.
Deputies discovered several sheets of aluminum foil with a black residue in Chillson’s wallet, and recognized these items consistent with heroin use.
Police then contacted the staff at Catawba College to make them aware of the incident and found out that Chillson was currently a registered student who lived on campus. Based on the college’s policies, they searched Chillson’s dorm room.
Administrators discovered two metal lock boxes, a black plastic case containing heroin, 170 dosage units of amphetamines, and drug paraphernalia. One of the two metal boxes contained heroin, aluminum foil similar to that found on Chillson and personal items belonging to Chillson’s roommate, Kevin Scott.
Based on the evidence seized investigators charged Chillson with possession of heroin, possess with intent to sell and deliver amphetamines, and possess with intent to sell and delivery controlled substances within 300 feet of a school. Scott was charged with possession of heroin and received a secured bond of $2,500. Chillson’s bond was set at $15,000.
