Development Planned Along I-485

Β
CHARLOTTE, NC — In the coming years, you should see more development along Interstate-485 west of the airport and in Huntersville.Β It’s some of the only land left undeveloped in Mecklenburg County.Β
Thursday, local business leaders and public officials took a bus tour around the entire 65-mile loop.Β They were looking new opportunities for development and studying areas that have seen growth due to the interstate.
“Just look at the northeast part of the city and the development over the last 10 years, and I-485 has been the driving factor for that,” says Charlotte Chamber President Bob Morgan.
The final stretch of I-485 opened to drivers over the summer, connecting I-77 and I-85 in the northern part of the county.
