Charlotte Raises Awareness About Domestic Violence

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Domestic Violence Advocacy Council organized a march in uptown Charlotte on Thursday to bring attention to the high number of domestic violence murders in Mecklenburg County.

The march was in held in honor of Alexia Mayfield, 23, who was killed earlier this month. Her ex-boyfriend, Immanuel Felton, 25, was charged with her murder.

Mayfield was the seventh domestic violence-related homicide in Charlotte this year, which is nearly double the total for all of 2014.
