Mother Faces Child Abuse Charges After Leaving Children in Car

INDIAN TRAIL, NC — A mother in Monroe faces child abuse charges, accused of leaving her two toddlers inside her car while she went shopping.

Deputies arrested Paula Sue Burns at the Walmart in Indian Trial Wednesday morning. Other shoppers call 911 when they spotted the two-year-olds.

Investigators say surveillance video shows Burns inside the store for more than an hour.
