Tiffany Mitchell had 14 points, Bianca Cuevas 13 and Khadijah Sessions 11 for the Gamecocks, who went 3-0 over the weekend to win the four-team tournament.
MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) β Justin Edwards scored 18 points, including four key free throws in the final 17 seconds, and Kansas State avoided an upset bid by South Carolina State, 68-66, yesterday. The Bulldogs pulled within 64-61 with 21 seconds remaining on an Ed Stephens 3-pointer, but Edwards sealed the game at the line.
UNDATED (AP) – Oklahoma moved up to No. 3 behind Clemson and Alabama and the Big Ten placed three teams in the top six of the new Associated Press college football poll. Clemson is No. 1 for the fourth straight week and Alabama is No. 2. The Tigers received 53 first-place votes and the Crimson Tide got the other eight from the media panel.
