NEW YORK (AP) β Christian Colon’s (koh-LOHNZ’) pinch-hit RBI single keyed a five-run rally in the top of the 12th inning in the Kansas City Royals come-from-behind 7-2 victory over the New York Mets to win the World Series in five games. It’s the Royals first World Series title in 30 years.
DENVER (AP)β The Denver Broncos beat previously unbeaten Green Bay 29-10 in the NFL’s fourth meeting of teams that were 6-0 or better. Peyton Manning threw for a season-high 340 yards on 21 of 29 attempts and Ronnie Hillman scored two TDs on the ground.
NEW ORLEANS (AP)β In the third-highest scoring game in NFL history, the New Orleans Saints lit up the New York Giants 52-49, on a last-second 50-yard field goal by Kai (k’eye) Forbath. Drew Brees (breez) passed for a career high 511 yards and seven touchdowns. Eli Manning connected on a career-high six touchdown passes in the loss.
PITTSBURGH (AP)β The Cincinnati Bengals are 7-0 for the first time in franchise history. Andy Dalton threw a touchdown pass with 2:57 to go and the Bengals picked off Ben Roethlisberger (RAWTH’-lihs-bur-gur) twice in the fourth quarter in a 16-10 win over their AFC North rivals in Pittsburgh.
MARTINSVILLE, Va. (AP) β Jeff Gordon earned an automatic berth in NASCAR’s championship race β where he’ll try to win a fifth title in his final season β with a victory Sunday at Martinsville Speedway.
