LONDON (AP) β Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been given a one-match stadium ban and a 40,000-pound ($61,700) fine by the Football Association after admitting to a charge of misconduct toward the referee during a loss to West Ham last month.
The FA’s Independent Regulatory Commission said Mourinho’s punishment will take effect immediately, meaning he will miss the trip to Stoke in the Premier League on Saturday.
Mourinho was sent to the stands by the referee against West Ham on Oct. 24, and the FA said the Portuguese coach “admitted an FA charge of misconduct regarding his language and/or behavior towards the match officials in or around the dressing room area during halftime.”
The FA withdrew a misconduct charge against Chelsea coach Silvino Louro stemming from the same game, having “considered further representation.”
