CHICAGO (AP) β€” A 24-year-old Chicago man has appeared federal court on charges he advised his cousin and his cousin’s girlfriend via text messages on how to kill the woman’s mother at an Indonesia resort.

Asked by a judge Wednesday if he understood the charges, Robert Justin Bibbs, answered quietly, “Yes, ma’am.” He’ll remain jailed at least until a Friday detention hearing.

He’s charged with conspiring with his cousin Tommy Schaefer and Heather Mack to kill Sheila von Wiese-Mack. Her body was found stuffed inside a suitcase last year. Mack and Schaefer were convicted in Indonesia in April.

Bibbs once allegedly texted Schaefer about killing the mother, saying, “Go sit on her face wit(h) a pillow.” Prosecutors say Bibbs believed he would get a cut of the wealthy mother’s inheritance.
