Domestic Violence Charges Against Greg Hardy Expunged

UPDATE:Β Greg Hardy’s domestic-violence related charges will be expunged from his criminal record.

Months after the case against him was dismissed, the charges against Hardy have been erased from his record.

The former Carolina Panther reportedly filed paperwork in April asking for the charges against him to be expunged.

Hardy had been charged in 2014 with communicating threats and assault on a female following an incident that occurred inside his uptown Charlotte condo with former girlfriend Nicole Holder.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — District Attorney Andrew Murray has dismissed all charges against Panthers’ Greg Hardy. Β The announcement came after the DA’s office says the alleged victim, Nicole Holder, could not be located.Β

WCCB’s Marvin Beach confirms that Hardy made a civil agreement with Holder.

Hardy, was convicted by a judge on assault charges that stemmed from an incident that involved his former girlfriend. Β Holder says Hardy assaulted her and threatened to kill her. Β A judge found Hardy guilty but he appealed the decision which caused the case to go before a jury. Β

Hardy, a defensive end for the Carolina Panthers, only played in one NFL game during the 2014 season before he went on the commissioner’s exempt list, thus still getting paid more than $13 million for the year. Β

The Carolina Panthers released the following statement on the DA’s decision to dismiss domestic assault charges against Greg Hardy:

We are aware of the decision by the district attorney’s office to dismiss charges against Greg Hardy. Β Greg remains on the Commissioner’s Exempt List and the NFL has advised us to allow it to complete its review under the Personal Conduct Policy. Β There is no change in his status at this time.

The NFL says Hardy’s status remains unchanged until they can review the matter.
