LINCOLNTON, N.C. — Lincoln County Sheriffโs Office detectives have charged a man who is accusedย of neglecting his bedridden wife for about nine months.
Bobby Armstrong, 72, is charged with one felony countย of Neglect of a Disabled/Elderly Person with Serious Injury.

Police say Armstrong failed to provideย medical care and hygienic care to his wife, Janet Armstrong, 72.ย She was forced to lie in her own excrement, had bed sores on her body,ย and had a deep open leg wound that was covered with maggots.

EMS went to the sceneย where they treated the patient then transferred her to Presbyterian Huntersville. She was treatedย there then transferred to Charlotte where she passed away on September 19th.

Captain Johnson said, โIn my 25 years in law enforcement this is the worst case of neglect I haveย seen. The conditions this person was living in were deplorable at best.โ

Mr. Armstrong was arrested andย placed under a $100,000.00 unsecured bond.
