Jager Gardner had zero yards rushing this season until he reeled off the longest run in Temple history, a 94-yard scoring burst. Gardner finished with 110 yards on six carries to help the Owls rebound from last Saturday’s agonizing loss to Notre Dame.
UNDATED (AP) β Marcus Mariota (mar-ee-OH’-tah) will return as the Tennessee Titans’ starting quarterback against New Orleans Sunday. The No. 2 overall pick in the draft has missed the last two games with a sprained ligament in his left knee. Mariota will wear a brace to protect the knee, but coach Mike Mularkey said he isn’t concerned about any issues with his quarterback’s mobility.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) β Brad Keselowski (kehs-LOW’-skee) is the pole-sitter for Sunday’s Sprint Cup race at Texas Motor Speedway after finishing just ahead of defending champ Kevin Harvick in yesterday’s qualifying. Chase contenders swept the first four positions, with Kyle Busch third and Joey Logano fourth. Erik Jones qualified sixth in the No. 20 car for Matt Kenseth, who received a two-race suspension from NASCAR for intentionally wrecking Logano last week at Martinsville.
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) β The Dallas Stars top the NHL’s Western Conference with 22 points after scoring three times in the final 8:45 to beat the Carolina Hurricanes 4-1. Seguin set up Patrick Sharp’s tiebreaking goal before Radek Faksa tallied 2:05 later. Ales (AL’-ehsh) Hemsky and Jason Demers (deh-MEHRZ’) also scored to support Kari Lehtonen (KAH’-ree LEH’-toh-nehn), who finished with 30 saves.
