Carolinas Medical Center employees possibly exposed to Scabies

CHARLOTTE, N.C.– A Carolinas Healthcare System spokesperson released the following statement Sunday regarding employees being exposed to Scabies.

“Recently, a patient with scabies was cared for at Carolinas Medical Center and exposed a number of the hospital’s medical staff. Scabies is a skin rash caused by a mite and can be passed to others by prolonged skin to skin contact. Several treatments exist.  The most common is a topical cream called permethrin. We are taking steps to identify the affected staff and the patients they treated to notify them and provide treatment if needed.”
