GASTONIA, N.C.– The Gastonia Fire Department responded to a structure fire at The Red Carpet Inn Sunday morning. Β
When firefighters arrived at the hotel on Broadcast Street around 5:53 a.m. Sunday, heavy flames were showing from a room of the hotel and occupants were being evacuated. Β
Firefighters put the fire out in about 10 minutes.Β
Officials say the room was vacant and that no one was injured.
The fire was caused by an electrical malfunction.
Officials say the fire caused $50,000 in damages.Β
