Police: 3 Men Arrested On Dog Fighting Charges

AP —  Police in Huntersville have arrested three men on charges connected to dog fighting.

Local media outlets report the arrests came two months after police seized 23 dogs, along with tools and equipment used in dog-fighting, from a property in the 16100 block of Statesville Road in Huntersville.

Authorities have charged 44-year-old Sean Lennell Burton of Davidson and 44-year-old Michael Ray Cherry of Huntersville with 16 counts each of felony dog fighting and baiting and one count each of restraining dogs in a cruel manner.

Also, 37-year-old Rondale Everett Jetton of Charlotte is charged with four counts of cruelty to animals. Cherry and Jetton are free on ail, while Burton was jailed Friday on $33,000 bail.

Online records don’t indicate if any of the men have an attorney.
