GASTONIA, N.C. — Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred Thursday morning at the intersection of Franklin Boulevard and South Chester Street/U.S. Highway 321.
Leslie Barrientos, 31, and her husband, Moises Barrientos, were traveling south on South Chester Street when their vehicle collided with a garbage truck, driven by Robert Dawkins, 50.
Mrs. Barrientos died on the scene. Dawkins and Barrientos were transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
The road was closed for more than four hours as investigators processed the scene. Details of how the collision occurred are still under investigation at this time.
