LINCOLNTON, N.C. — A Lincoln County man was arrested Thursday for possessing counterfeit money, drug paraphernalia, and carrying a concealed weapon.

Police say Jason Lee Self, 33, of Lincolnton, was carrying 28 counterfeit bills in $10 and $20 denominations, along with drug paraphernalia. The arrest came after a several weeks-long investigation into drug activity Self was believed to be involved with.

“Drugs and property crimes go hand in hand.  Although we primarily investigate drug activity, once we received the information about the fake money we decided to make the arrest before anyone became a victim of his fraudulent activity,” says Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Lt. Jon Propst.

The investigation is ongoing.  Anyone with information concerning the making or possessing of counterfeit money is urged to call Crime stoppers at 704-736-8909 or the Drug Tip Line at 704-736-8422.
