A major winter storm will overspread the area Thursday night and linger through Saturday morning. Mountain areas will see a significant amount of snow with a wintry mix likely for the foothills and Charlotte. Major travel problems are likely. The storm will clear out Saturday with quiet weather expected for Sunday.
