ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — Investigators are searching for two suspects after one of them drove their 4-wheeler into a North Carolina Highway Patrolman.

On Saturday around 2:00 a.m., the Trooper was traveling on Highway 153 and saw two 4-wheeler ATVs driving on the ice and snow covered roads. He attempted to stop the ATVs by activating his blue lights, but the vehicles sped away.
After following the suspects to a dead end near 300 Harmony Lane, the Trooper exited his vehicle and began to approach the suspects. The suspects appeared to comply, but then suddenly one of the 4-wheelers increased his speed and struck the Trooper in the leg. The Trooper was knocked to the ground with an injured leg.
Video obtained near the intersection of Main Street Landis and Highway 153 shows both suspect 4-wheelers and a white colored van. Investigators are attempting to identify the driver of the van as a possible witness, as well as the identity of the operators of the 4-wheelers.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Lt. Chad Moose (704) 216-8687 or Detective Nate Phillips (704) 216-8684.
