Victim Of Mount Holly Hit & Run Dies

MOUNT HOLLY, NC — Police are still searching for the suspect in a now fatal hit and run accident that happened Tuesday evening.

67-year-old Gerald Meggs of Mount Holly was hit by an unknown person headed north on South Main Street around 8:07pm Tuesday night. Officials say Meggs was trying to cross S. Main St. heading towards the Citgo on Tuckaseegee Road when he was hit.

Meggs was taken to CMC Main where he remained in critical condition until passing away around 4:00am Thursday morning.

Police are still looking for the suspect responsible. They say the vehicle was a 2004-2008 Ford pickup truck which may have damage to the passenger side mirror.
