Sheriff: Robbery suspect shot and killed after firing at deputies

IREDELL CO., N.C.– A suspect in a bank robbery Friday evening was shot and killed by deputies, according to Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell.

Deputies responded to an armed robbery at the Capital Bank on West Memorial Highway near Union Grove around 5 p.m. Friday.

Campbell says the suspect fled on foot and was located by deputies two hours later.

The suspect fired at least one shot at deputies and deputies returned fire killing the suspect.

The suspect’s name has not been released at this time.
