Estrada perfect for a while…Hartley named top NHL coach

(AP) β€” Marco Estrada lost his bid for a perfect game on Logan Forsythe’s infield single with one out in the eighth inning but the Toronto Blue Jays fought on for a 1-0 win in 12 innings over the Tampa Bay Rays. Chris Colabello homered in the bottom of the 12th to lift the Jays to the win.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) β€” Chicago White Sox starter Chris Sale struck out 10 but the Minnesota Twins beat him for the third time this season, 6-1. Sale is the first pitcher since Randy Johnson in 2000 to strike out at least 10 batters in seven straight starts.

CLEVELAND (AP) β€” Francisco Lindor, the top prospect of the Cleveland Indians, slammed his first Major League home run in an 8-2 win over the Tigers. His blast helped Carlos Carrasco improve to 9-5.

NEW YORK (AP)β€” Ivan Nova (ee-VAHN’ NOH’-vuh) made a successful return to the mound today for his first appearance since April 19, 2014. Nova held the Phillies on three hits over 6 2/3 scoreless innings in his first major league appearance in 14 months, leading the New York Yankees over Philadelphia 10-2.

LAS VEGAS (AP) β€” Bob Hartley of the Calgary Flames has won the Jack Adams Award as the NHL’s top coach. Hartley accepted the award at the NHL Awards show in Las Vegas tonight.
