BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — Burke County officials say a registered sex offender was using an alias to communicate with minors online.
On March 4th, Burke County Detectives received an anonymous tip a that a registered sex offender was using social media outlets to talk to underage girls.
Officials investigated and discovered that David Proctor, 28, was using an alias online to avoid detection.
During this operation, Proctor solicited an underage girl in an attempt to establish a relationship. On March 7th, he chose a predetermined location to meet whom he believed to be a minor.
The location chosen by Proctor was in direct violation of his sex offender registry status. Once he arrived at the predetermined location, he was taken into custody without incident.
