Two Bank Robberies Under Investigation in Harrisburg
HARRISBURG, NC – Investigators need help identifying a man wanted for robbing two banks within 10 minutes along Highway 49 in Harrisburg.
Investigators say he struck the Wells Fargo at 10:47 am, then went less than half a mile down the road to rob the Fifth Third Bank at 10:57.
Nearby business owner Joe Susa couldn’t get change for his ice cream shop because Wells Fargo was closed.
“Then we drove down to Fifth Third, figuring, OK, one of the banks are open, they’re open on Saturday,” Susa says.
He says he saw an even bigger police presence there.
“They had the dogs out, they were searching all through the woods down there,” he says.
The Sheriff tells WCCB the suspect didn’t show a weapon and no one was hurt. He wouldn’t say how much money was taken.
Investigators believe another person, possibly a woman, was driving a getaway car.
