ANSON COUNTY, N.C. — We are waiting to hear if the Anson County Sheriff has put two deputies on administrative leave after they shot and killed a Chesterfield man. It is  the seventh shooting by law-enforcement in three months in our area.

Dennis Penny was camping with his girlfriend Linda Jones near Blewitt Falls Rd. when state investigators say another woman called 911 asking deputies to check the couple because Penny may have hit his girlfriend.

WCCB has requested  the 911 call as part of public records.

They are saying that they came down here to fast for a week,” said one resident nearby, Patricia Michael.

Deputies say when they showed up, Penny fired a gun two deputies.

State investigators say the deputies are Josh Martin and Kyle Beam. They shot back. The father and Army Sergeant died at the hospital

“Nothing like that happens here,” said one resident Patricia Michael. “it was just horrifying that something like that could happen.”

Family tells WCCB Charlotte Penny struggled with issues in the past. In 2012, it was the focus of an Amber Alert. Chesterfield County Deputies were searching for him after accusations that he kidnapped his children.

He did have an arrest record, by t loved ones want proof he fired at deputies. The State Bureau of Investigations says agents gathered two guns on the scene. They will send those to the crime lab to find out if Penny fired the weapons.
