CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A suspect was arrested after a SWAT situation occurred in northwest Charlotte.
On Thursday, July 6th at approximately 7:30 a.m., officers responded to a residence near Crawford Drive after receiving an emergency call. upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with a wanted suspect, identified as 42-year-old Rico King inside the home. Officers say King remained inside the home possibly armed with a weapon.
Shortly after 11:30 a.m. CMPD’s SWAT Unit responded to the scene to assist. SWAT members gained entry to the home following multiple commands for King to come out. Upon entry, officers searched the home until King was located in the attic and apprehended by SWAT members.
King will be charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and second-degree kidnapping.
