NEW ORLEANS — Police are investigating after a Charlotte man fell to his death in a New Orleans casino.
34-year-old James Darst, a native of Charlotte, was found dead after falling from an escalator inside of a Harrah’s Casino on Thursday.
Officers say Darst arrived at the casino, located at 8 Canal Street, with several coworkers at about 2:30 a.m. He later walked up an escalator to the second floor and attempted to slide down the escalator handrail, falling to the first floor. He was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries suffered in the fall.
Based on evidence from the incident, investigators do not believe foul play is involved.
