CMPD: Pedestrian hit, killed on Freedom Drive

CHARLOTTE, N.C.– A pedestrian was hit and killed Saturday night in northwest Charlotte Saturday night, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Police say 54-year-old Reginald Clark attempted to cross Freedom Drive and was hit by a 2007 Honda Odyssey.

Medic pronounced Clark dead at the scene.

Police say the driver of the Honda Odyssey did brake but did not have enough time to avoid hitting Clark.

Drug and alcohol are not suspected contributing factors in the crash.  Police say Clark was wearing dark clothing and that he was not crossing at a crosswalk or intersection.
