Cherryville Man Charged With His Girlfriend’s Murder

GASTON CO., NC– A Cherryville man accused of shooting and killing his girlfriend will go before a judge tomorrow. Jeffery Eaker is charged with first-degree murder.

He’s being held in the Gaston County Jail without bond.

Police say Eaker shot Lacey west last night at a house on black road, where Eaker lived. West died at at the hospital.

A man who says he’s related to Eaker, says the suspect’s two children were inside the house during the shooting.

Cherryville Resident Don Sigmon said, “Shock! Everybody is in shock. Nothin’ ever happens around here, we’re all kin. You go up and down this street, it’s uncles, aunts, cousins. We’re all kin to each other.”

WCCB spoke to the victim a year ago when her young son accidentally drowned and scammers started a fake go-fund me page to profit from her son’s death.
