IREDELL COUNTY, N.C.– A 7-hour standoff is over in Iredell County and 26-year-old, active United States Marine is in custody, officials say.
Iredell County officials say Mooresville Police were called to a domestic violence situation around 3 a.m. They say the suspect left the scene before police arrived and they sent out a BOLO for the suspect vehicle.
Catwaba Co. officials located the vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop. The suspect led them on a chase back into Iredell County.
The suspect then stopped on Highway 150 near Berea Baptist Church. Officials say he was armed and threatening suicide.
After 7 hours of negotiating the suspect was taken into custody by Mooresville Police.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
