CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Beginning Monday, the N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close the railroad crossing on McLean Road at Old Concord Road in Charlotte.
This closure is part of continued progress on the Harrisburg to Charlotte Double Track project, which will add 12 miles of second track and realign curves along the North Carolina Railroad.
Motorists will be directed to use Old Concord Road, N.C. 49, Back Creek Church Road and John Russell Road before returning to McLean Road. Message boards will be in place alerting motorists to the closure before it is scheduled to begin. See the detour route here:Β McLeanRoadDetour
This project is one of three that, in total, will add approximately 26 miles of new second track along the main line, providing an uninterrupted double track spanning 92 miles between Greensboro and Charlotte.Β To learn more, click here.
