Police Identify Person Killed in East Charlotte Accident

[UPDATE]

Police have identified the victim in Monday evening’s fatal accident as 75-year-old Ralph Black.

Officials say Black was driving down Shamrock Road when he sideswiped an oncoming pickup truck pulling lawn equipment. Black then continued into oncoming traffic before running off the road, hitting a utility pole, and then crashing into a storage shed in the backyard of a Gainesborough Road home.

Medics pronounced Black dead on the scene. The driver and passenger of the pickup were not injured.

Investigators do not believe speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.


 

 

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person has died after a car accident on Gainsborough Road.

Police say the inbound lane of Shamrock Road is currently blocked at Gainsborough Road and drivers should avoid the area.
