Gaston County Pastor, Family Lose Everything In House Fire

KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. — A Gaston County community is coming together to help a local pastor and his family after they lost everything in a house fire.

One week ago,  Angela Goodson received a phone call that would turn her life upside down.  She was on a church retreat in Tennessee when her husband, a local pastor, called to inform her their house was on fire. Pastor Goodson, the couple’s son, and their 11-month-old grandson, were all inside the home.  They made it out safely.   Goodson returned to the home Friday and found the family’s Bible, in the midst of the rubble, as good as new.

The family is overwhelmed at the outpouring of support from the community.  One neighbor even brought an RV so the family can have a place to sleep while they search for a new home.  The family is thankful they still have their faith and each other.

“I’m not really discouraged about the things that we’ve lost.  I know that God’s got it and I’m just letting him guide us through all of it,” says Angela Goodson.

A barbecue sale will be held Saturday to help the family.

It’s from noon to 2pm at Good News Tabernacle Church in Bessemer City.

A Gofundme account has been set up to help the family.  If you’d like to donate, click the link below.
