Fire Destroys Home On Memorial Day Weekend

CHARLOTTE, NC — A south Charlotte family loses their home after a fire on Memorial Day weekend. Lannier Lane fire

The fire started around 5:30pm Sunday at 3918 Lannier Falls Lane in south Charlotte. Heavy fire was coming from the home when crews arrived. The flames were so intense that crews were forced to only fight the fire from outside the home.

It took 23 firefighters 43 minutes to control the blaze. One Charlotte firefighter received a minor burn to the neck and was taken to an area hospital for evaluation and released.

One resident suffered a lower leg injury and was treated by Medic and released.

Investigators say the fire was accidental and caused by grilling too close to the structure.

Damages are estimated at around $250,000. Two neighboring homes also received minor damage from the heat of the fire.

The home’s two residents and their dog were put out by the fire but are being assisted by family and friends.
