Police: Construction Material Thief Arrested

STATESVILLE, N.C. – Officers with the Statesville Police Department say they observed a suspicious vehicle on Winston Avenue and 7th Street with what they believed to be construction materials protruding out of the car window.

After monitoring the vehicle officers say the driver took suspicious actions by stopping at Wilson Lee Boulevard, turning off the lights, and exiting the vehicle, according to a news release.

Police say officers approached the driver and a backseat passenger identified as 60-year-old Reginal Glover of Statesville.

Officers say they inspected a new home under construction in the area and discovered matching brand-name construction material to those found in the vehicle with Glover.

The driver of the vehicle cooperated fully with officers, providing information on the location where Glover had loaded the stolen construction materials, police say.

Upon admission of guilt, Reginal Glover was taken into custody and brought before a magistrate. Glover was charged with felony larceny from a permitted construction site and Possession of stolen goods. Glover was denied bond and was scheduled for a first appearance on Monday, November 13, 2023.
