Bodies of Missing Diver and Swimmer Recovered
MOORESVILLE, N.C. —Β Officials say the bodies of aΒ Sherills Ford Fire diver and a missing swimmerΒ were recovered from Lake Norman.
Crews were attemptingΒ to locate 29-year-old Isaiah Cruz who went missing on Sunday. Officials say Cruz jumped off the boat to swim, butΒ couldn’t couldn’t make it back due to the strong winds and current.
Three divers went into the water on Monday to continue searching for Cruz when anΒ emergency situation happened underwater.Β Two divers made it back to the surface and were transported.Β The body of the third diver was recovered on Monday evening. He has been identified as Bradley Long.
Two other firefighters were also rescued on MondayΒ for possible exhaustion. One was transported to an area hospital.
