CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Former Tar Heel Eric Montross passed away Sunday, December 17th, after a year-long battle with cancer. The NBA player was 52.
Montross was a member of the 1993 championship team in Chapel Hill, and a color commentator for the Tar Heel Sports Network in recent years.
Montross announced his cancer diagnosis in March 2023. While Montross let it be known he would be away from the media during his treatment, he did not diclose the form of cancer he was battling.
