State Budget Battle Cooling Down In Raleigh
CHARLOTTE, NC — The North Carolina Senate is set to vote today on a state budget compromise giving you a tax cut and pay boosts to teachers.
The deal with the House gives teachers a 5% pay raise: about $50,000 a year.
The plan also gives state employees raises and has a middle-class tax cut.
Tuition cuts to three University of North Carolina campuses are also part of the budget compromise.
In-state students would pay $500 a semester to attend Elizabeth City State University, Western Carolina University and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke starting in 2018.
