YORK, S.C. – The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control have confirmed a new case of a resident infected with the Zika Virus in York County. ย York County officials have confirmed that the individual did travel outside of York County.
This is the 17th reported case of the Zika virus inย South Carolina this year.
SCDHECย officials say they are working with SCDHEC to continue offering programs to keep the public informed on the virus and other diseases such as West Nile.
SCDHEC said, “Programs will continue such as surveillance programs for Zika and other mosquito-borneย diseases such as West Nile, which was identified in York County in June of this year.”
York County officials and SCDHEC want to inform the public on what are the most common symptoms of Zika:

โข Conjunctivitis
โข Muscle Pain
โข Headache
According to SCDHEC, they say that many people infected with Zika virus wonโt have symptoms or will only have mild symptoms.
