Boil Water Advisory Issued for Statesville
Statesville N.C. – On July 27th, a major water line break was discovered near the Water Treatment Plant on Pump Station Rd. at around 3 a.m. Crews managed to arrive on the scene and isolate the problem; however, most Statesville water customers were without water for several hours.
As a result, a boil water advisory has been issued for Statesville water customers until further notice. This resulted in the closing of the Statesville leisure pool, court sessions, and many other businesses and offices. Because of the situation, the Iredell County Health Department is working with and advising restaurants in the area.
The City of Statesville has delivered bottle water to the Council on Aging nutrition site and is also planning to set up additional bottled water distribution sites.
Those living in the area are cautioned about consuming water through drinking, food preparation, cooking, rinsing off food and making ice. However, it is okay to shower or bathe in the water as long as you don’t drink it and if your water appears cloudy, run the faucet until it clears.
Testing has reportedly already begun on the water quality and officials must wait 24-hours in order to determine if the boil water advisory can be lifted.
