UPDATE (August 9, 2016):

Original Story (July 29, 2016):
CHARLOTTE, NC– “When I first heard it I grabbed my baby and was like Oh my God I couldn’t imagine nothing like this,” said neighbor, Darica Belton.
Darica Belton lives on Farmpond Lane with her five month old baby. She says she didn’t know her neighbors across the street that well, but suspected something was going on with the children.
“We used to see DSS over there all the time that was it,” said Belton.
CMPD says the two year old living across the street died from being physically assaulted. A search warrant gives graphic details from the Medical Examiner showing the toddler suffered burns consistent with the top of a lighter, a lacerated liver, broken ribs, and other injuries, new and old. Shocking details for a fellow mother.
“I don’t understand how somebody could do this to a child, 2-year old at that, they’re defenseless there’s nothing that anything that a child could do would make you do something like this to them, it’s just sad,” said Belton.
Belton says the mom’s boyfriend was there all the time and is the one that told them about the death. Neighbors say it’s concerning the mom has other children including a six-month-old baby.
“They don’t need to be with her until they find out who did this, whether it was her or anybody else involved in the situation,” said Belton.
Police say they are interviewing several adults, all who could have taken care of the toddler leading up to his death.
So far no arrests have been made
