Deputies: School Secretary Confesses to Sex with Student
Former Crest High School Secretary Arrested
SHELBY, NC — A former Crest High School secretary is out of jail on bond after deputies say she admitted to having sex with a student.
Deputies say, so far, there are two victims.
“We send our kids to school to be educated,” said C.J. Sauer. “And that’s not quite the education that we’re looking for the kids to have.”
Sauer’s child goes to school with the victims. He’s also President of Guardians of the Children, a group that works with victims of child abuse.
“Everybody I’ve spoke to is pretty upset about it,” said Sauer.
Deputies arrested Bowling Thursday after a mom reported inappropriate pictures and Snap Chat messages from the secretary on her son’s phone.
Deputies say that mother told them she began receiving “…anonymous phone calls congratulating her on being a grandmother.”
Sources say Bowling got pregnant. It’s not clear by whom, but sources say the pregnancy has been terminated.
I went to Bowling’s home for comment. Police quickly showed up to make WCCB Charlotte leave.
Capt. Joel Shores warns parents to pay attention.
“Obviously, parents are outraged, but you need to keep a good eye on your kids especially their social media,” said Capt. Shores.
Family of one of the victims tells me they reported suspicions to the school in May. The Sheriff’s Office says the district never reported that information.
Deputies say the mom came to them July 29.
The school district says Bowling resigned August 2.
“To me, that’s the most disturbing part,” said Sauer. “There should’ve been an investigation. It just never should’ve went this far.”
Bowling faces five counts of sex acts with a student.
Deputies are going through cell phone data to see if any sexual encounters happened when the children were under 16.
If so, more charges of statutory rape could be added in this case.
