CMPD Chief Putney Speaks About Officer-Involved Shooting

CHARLOTTE, NC — A police chase out of Charlotte has ended with an officer involved shooting in Catawba County, according to investigators.

This all started after a double shooting happened Wednesday morning on East W.T. Harris Boulevard at Brook Canyon Drive during a reported robbery.brook canyon shooting

Medic says two patients are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.  Harris Blvd is closed while police continue to investigate.

The suspects led police on a chase that ended when the suspects hit a utility pole on Highway 16 at Buffalo Shoals Road in Catawba County. One suspect showed a gun and refused to comply when officers moved in to arrest them. Officers were forced to fire on the suspect hitting him multiple times.

The one suspect was taken to Catawba Regional Hospital with life-threatening injuries, and the other was taken into custody.

No officers were injured.

Police are continuing to search for other potential suspects in the area of Brook Canyon Drive. Anyone who sees any suspicious individuals in the area should call 911.
